5/21 サツキ
こんにちは、肥後細川庭園です。
雨が続き、早くも梅雨のような陽気が続いておりますね。
庭園では、梅雨の時期の花も咲き始めておりますが、
サツキが見ごろを迎えています。
庭園内のサツキには、他と異なる2品種が土橋近くにあります。
品種名は不明ですが、挿し木で増やしており、今後園内に増やしていこうと計画しております。
毎年池周りを美しく彩る肥後花菖蒲は、５/１５(土)に毎年１番に開花する品種「吉江紫」が開花しました。
昨年よりも１週間程早い開花です。他の品種も花芽が出てきておりますので、
早ければ今週末又は来週に少しづつ開花しそうです。
品種ごとに開花時期が若干異なります。

In the garden, flowers of the rainy season are beginning to bloom.
Satsuki azaleas are in full bloom.
There are several types of Satsuki azaleas in the park.
You can find two unique varieties near Dobashi Bridge.
Higo irises(Higoshobu) that beautifully color the area around our ponds every year,
“Yoshiemurasaki” which blooms first every year, bloomed on May 15th, 2021
Flower buds are also appearing in other varieties and will bloom sequentially.
